Mindy Turner
Artist of the Month for January and February
The Artist of the Month for January and February at the Center for the Arts, 122 W. Broadway in downtown Hobbs, is Mindy Turner, multi media artist. She was born and raised in Hobbs. Mindy will graduate from New Mexico State University in May with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and a minor in studio art. This is the first exhibition of her work.
Mindy has been interested in art since she was a small child. She learned to draw at an early age, and continued to love art as she got older. Mindy completed 3 years of art classes while at Hobbs High School, and completed her minor in art during college. She has taken classes in 2-D art, 3-D art, ceramics, ceramic tile, painting, and metal and jewelry making. She enjoys all types of art and believes that art is her true passion.
Mindy is a new member of the Lea County Commission for the Arts and the Llano Estacado Art Association. She has taught student art classes at the Lea County Center for the Arts for the past 2 summers, the Wednesday After-School Art Program, and has also taught several Saturday classes. She plans to continue teaching student art classes, and her goal is to pursue a career as an art teacher.
