February 2009 Exhibit

In recognition of Black History Month, the Center for the Arts presented an exhibit by ceramics and mixed media artist Rolando Shaw, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. The opening reception was held Saturday, February 7, from 6 to 8 pm and continued through February 28.

“My name is Rolando Shaw and I was born in Dallas, TX on May 24, 1976. My hometown is Rockwall, TX, where I lived for 18 years. My first degree sought in college was in General Business. After taking a couple elective art classes I decide to become an art major. In the spring of 1998 I decided that my concentration would be in Ceramics. I received my B.F.A. in Ceramics in 2001 from Texas A&M University-Commerce in Commerce, TX. After graduation I lived and worked in Commerce from the Fall of 2001 to the Spring of 2005. I was accepted into the M.F.A. program at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX where I graduated in the spring of 2008. I currently live and work in Lubbock at Texas Tech as the Wood Shop coordinator for the Department of Art.”
