Diana Cochran
Artist of the Month for August and September 2009
"Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started drawing at age four and it is still an important part of my life."
Hobbs artist Diana Cochran is the Llano Estacado Art Association's Artist of the Month for August and September. Diana works in several mediums, but her favorite is pastel. She loves the rich colors of pastel and their feel as they cross the paper, comparing it to putting butter on paper.
Specializing in horses and painting equine commissioned portraits, Diana has recently started painting pets and landscapes. She exhibited several paintings at the Lea County Fair and Rodeo, Lovington, New Mexico, in August in the Fine Arts Department and was chosen to have her work in a new book called "Best of Artists and Artisans-Pastel Volume II", which will be available soon. She is a member of the Llano Estacado Art Association, The Pastel Society of New Mexico, and the Equine Art Guild. Her website is www.saphyrearabianart.com.
Diana has been married to Wes Cochran for 11 years, and has a daughter and two beautiful grandsons. She works for the Eagle 7 theatre and does the artwork for their displays. She also has a mural in progress for the Dal Paso Animal Clinic in Hobbs.
