Phil Hahn
Artist of the Month for September and October 2011

Phil Hahn started experimenting with painting, mainly acrylics, in 1990.  After completing a few paintings, he stopped painting for nearly 20 years.  Lovington School's Fine Arts Coordinator, Belinda Hardin encouraged Phil to take part in a special art classes offered to Lovington school employees.  This classes, taught by Carrie Swenson and Camille Wood rekindled Phil's interest in art.  Phil works in pastels and pastel and ink.  Within months of starting learning pastel methods, Phil was showing and selling his art and has taught several classes in basic pastel methods.  "I find that I can completely get lost in my art.  I especially love the cast shadow and intense colors so often found in the New Mexico landscape."  Phil tells his students:  "It's your chance to create your own world - make it look just the way you want it!"
