Summer Art Camps
Lea County Commission for the Arts (LCCA) Visual and Performing Art Camps provide children with professional instruction in the visual and performing arts. The camps are designed to implement our mission statement: “to provide leadership, vision, and support to ensure the availability, accessibility, and diversity of the arts in Lea County.” By giving the youth of Lea County an awareness of the arts and getting them actively involved, the children have the opportunity to develop a life long appreciation for the arts.
The summer visual arts program allows students to choose the medium in which they are most interested. The summer performing arts camp provides an opportunity for youth to experience all aspects of play production, acting, singing, dancing, set construction, make-up, sound, and lighting. Through this summer camps education project, LCCA intends to attract a growing number of youth to the visual and dramatic arts. The children of Lea County deserve the chance to experience the enjoyment that comes through self-expression.
Due to the renovation of the Center for the Arts currently in progress, the Visual Art Camp will be held at First United Methodist Church, 200 E Snyder St., Hobbs, NM. Entry into the building will be the northwest door from the parking lot. (Enter by the small playground next to the building.) The Performing Arts Camp will be held at The Playhouse, 1700 N. Grimes, Hobbs, NM.
